I’ve had the pleasure of working on the new identity for Emily Deisroth Photography. Emily is so incredibly lovely, her work is artistic, soulful and emotional, plus she works does some collage art. I wanted her logo to reflect all that. I’m attaching a few from our first round. She’s chosen one, I’ll keep it a surprise for a future blog. We’re having beautiful square 2 sided business cards and gift certificates letterpressed at anemone letterpress. I’ll post again when they are printed. Guess which one she chose? Which one would you?
Sorry for the lapse in blogging (though I’m pretty sure my Mom is the only one reading–”Hi Mom”). There and several identity jobs in right now and I thought I would show you some selects from the first rounds. It’s all a part of the process, and I think the most interesting part. Heck, why do you think I’m so addicted to Project Runway. The client is Jen Capone Photography a fantastic photographer in Pennsylvania. She recently bought a beautiful building and wanted to incorporate this beautiful stained glass window. Below are some samples of my favs.

Wow! Day two and business is actually booming. I’m not being sarcastic. Jobs in from new clients, meetings set up, design wheels churning. In light of all that, I literally have to get back to the drawing board…so here’s an easy blog. You’ll probably see it again with different examples. I totally heart letterpress! To give a few plugs to my peeps on the East Coast, Soho Letterpress, Greenwich Letterpress…you know who you are. LA has some great shops also, Aardvark Letterpress (who I’ll be working with this month), Soolip. Letterpress is one of the most versatile forms of printing. I know a design company who actually letterpressed on sponges! Anyway, one you feel it, smell it, taste it (ok I’m getting carried away)…you’ll never go back.

- You Say Goodbye…Strange to start this, my very first blog entry with a heartfelt goodbye. But props must be given to wee small hours design, my first design studio, my first baby. Opened in 1997, our NYC graphic design firm served some top name companies internationally. We had a great space(s), an amazingly talented staff and dreamy clients.
- I Say Hello… The germ for the Identity Kitchen was in my head while running WSH. Identity work was always my favorite and I wanted to come up with some set packages, to help serve the needs of new businesses and to simplify the estimating process. This would in turn give us more time to do what we love…design. Here it is a few years later, across the country in Los Angeles and the birth of the Identity Kitchen. A new design studio dedicated to branding and identity design, in print, interactive and packaging design.
- Hello, Hello…We’ve put together an incredible team. I’ll be introducing them in my next few blogs. Check back to see what we have cooking, design tips and what inspires us. Thanks for stopping by.
